TEDCAP and Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE) formalizing their successful public private collaboration initiative

We are proud to announce the formalization of our successful collaboration initiative aimed at strengthening the partnership between the private and public sectors in emergency preparedness and disaster management!

Over three years ago, TEDCAP took the first step in this journey when the Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE) invited us to participate in their national emergency evacuation drills for earthquake as advisors and representatives of the private sector. What began as an opportunity for collaboration quickly evolved into a strategic alliance, where our role has not only grown but diversified. Since then, we have been an active part of the exercise planning committee, providing our expertise and knowledge, and acting as a crucial link to ensure the involvement of multiple stakeholders in this vital mission.

Today, TEDCAP is honored to stand alongside the COE in this important effort, with the following key objectives:

Designing comprehensive exercises: We have worked together to develop advanced emergency management exercises, including immediate disaster response, business continuity, and strategic plans to ensure community resilience in the face of any eventuality.

Innovating preparedness tools: We are creating and providing technological and strategic tools that enhance the response capabilities of both the public and private sectors as well as communities, offering solutions tailored to local and national needs.

Raising public awareness and education: We know that preparedness is a collective effort, which is why we are committed to increasing public awareness of the importance of disaster preparedness. Through strategic communication campaigns, media, and public events, we seek to educate and mobilize the population, making preparedness a priority for all sectors of society.

A recent example of the impact of this collaboration was the Simulacro Nacional de Evacuación por Terremoto 2024, held on October 23, in which more than 2.5 million Dominicans participated, representing 22% of the population and more than 6,500 businesses and organizations.

This event demonstrated the commitment and response capability of both citizens and the private and public sectors in emergency situations, highlighting the importance of being prepared for any eventuality. This is just the beginning of an ongoing and expansive effort aimed at strengthening disaster response capabilities, with the ultimate goal of creating safer, stronger, and more resilient communities. We are convinced that, by working together, we can face the challenges of the future with better preparation and ensure that disaster response is faster and more efficient.
