TEDACP was entrusted with a crucial task by an international organization to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment of the organization's operations and develop a foolproof country evacuation plan for Haiti. This Caribbean and Latin American nation, currently grappling with a highly unstable situation, poses numerous challenges for any undertaking. Haiti's tumultuous history includes two devastating earthquakes in 2012 and 2021, from which it has struggled to fully recover. Moreover, the country has been plagued by hurricanes and even a shocking presidential assassination. These calamities, coupled with inadequate infrastructure, a lack of quality education, and rampant corruption, have created an environment teeming with risks. The organization, cognizant of the precarious circumstances, sought TEDACP's expertise to assess multiple sites across Haiti.
This evaluation encompassed not only the physical locations but also the examination of business processes, logistics, and supply chain management. Given the current state of the country, these aspects presented significant challenges that required meticulous planning and strategizing. Consequently, TEDACP meticulously devised strategies tailored to address each risk category, ensuring a comprehensive approach to risk management. In addition to the site evaluations and process reviews, TEDACP recognized the pressing need to establish a robust country evacuation plan specifically designed for expatriates. These individuals, being prime targets for criminal gangs, needed a fail-safe mechanism to extract them from Haiti swiftly and safely. The evacuation plan was meticulously crafted to account for various scenarios, including day or night extractions, adverse weather conditions such as storms, and even blocked roads. The organization's expatriates could now rest assured that they had a well-thought-out plan in place, ready to be executed at a moment's notice should the situation demand it.
